A Word from Pastor John
As we embark on a new week let's remember the words of Jesus,
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Jesus tells us to embrace the peace that he gives. We should not allow ourselves to become troubled and we should not live in fear. Much easier said than done at times - but we must continually strive to partake of the true peace that only Jesus can give.
Say a prayer daily asking Jesus to fill you with his peace. When those troubled thoughts begin to enter your mind, visually take ahold of that thought, and lay it before the cross. Jesus does not want us to live in continual fear and anxiety.
As we continue through 2020, may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts and lives.

Ecuador missionary meets need of multicultural children
Nayara Silva, a missionary in Ecuador, saw a need among the children on the seminary campus where she lives and took it upon herself to meet that need.
Silva lives on the campus of South America Nazarene Theological Seminary in Quito along with other missionaries and seminary staff. She noticed that the children who live on campus with their parents needed help socializing together.
Nayara started teaching classes every two weeks. Since the nine children who represent seven different world areas are multicultural, she chose a curriculum that discusses identity.
The topics covered are “Understanding my emotions and feelings,” "Being conscious of who am I," and "Who I can be in relation to God."
Silva explained why she started the classes.
"I said 'here I am' to the Lord,” she said. “I saw the need and was willing to serve them. Children that are in another culture need to be cared for and loved on."
Children's ministry is not new for Silva, nor is being immersed in a different culture. She spent two months in Kenya serving children and youth through a partnership between her sending church, the Evangelical Missions Center, and the Church of the Nazarene in Kenya. She has served in ministry with children most of her life.
Silva presently serves as a regional assistant for Nazarene Compassionate Ministries in South America. To learn more about Nayara, click here to read her missionary profile both in English and Portuguese.

1. God, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. 2. God, let any knowledge I gain serve to help me love You and others more, and not puff me up. 3. God, help me see something new about You I've never seen before. 4. God, correct any lies I believe about You or anything I misunderstand. 5. God, direct my steps according to Your Word.
